Light in the Darkness

Dark.

Opera houses and concert halls. Dinner theaters and honkytonks. From Manhattan to Milan, Sydney to St. Petersburg. Theaters around the world have been dark for months. Seasons have been cancelled. Singers, musicians, stage hands, lighting and costume designers all asked to stay home. Stages are silent, seats are empty, souls of theaters are sad.

Light.

Listen...The show is not over. It has, for the moment, moved. Arias are being belted from balconies and driveways. Dance is en pointe on front lawns and back yards. Violins sing through open windows. Pianos appear in the unlikeliest of places. Music and musicians inspire, reassure, and remind us of the thrill when the current goes up, the emotion when the curtain comes down. Light in the darkness.
